Another Pattern


You may hear your neighbor’s breath.
Listen until you are still.


When you are ready,
amplify this neighbor’s voice.


Find a sound, unpitched, greyish.
Listen to this sound as you breathe.


Sustain this sound.


If another speaks before you,
listen for a breath or two,
then enter, or listen more.


If another speaks after you,
listen for a breath or two,
then continue, or stop.


Once stopped,
listen to the result for a breath or three,
then return to your sound, or listen more.


You may find your sound warming.


If you find yourself in a crowd,
let your partners leave it before you go.

 

Déjà vu


Listen until you are still.


Find your breathing: slow, deep, fast, shallow, erratic.


Find a first sound.


Find a larger sound.
Find a still larger sound.
Find a smaller sound.


Find a faster sound.
Find a still faster sound.
Find a slower sound.


Find a louder sound.
Find a still louder sound.
Find a softer sound.


Go in reverse: softer, softer still, then louder, etc.


You may have the feeling you have done this before,
or at least something similar.

Listen until you are still.


Listen to a neighbor.


When you are ready,
Make sound to support them.


Listen to a neighbor.


When you are ready,
Make sound to suppress them.


Ignore a neighbor.
