Mirror trace and tremble

Installation for Southern Sonic Festival, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, May 10-13, 2018.

A collaboration with Jane Cassidy and Holland Hopson.

Three projectors, two prepared with prisms; eight transducers attached to the handrail along the ramp within the projection.

An immersive environment honoring the glorious close of the Mississippi River in New Orleans.  The visuals record fog, boat traffic, and the near-stillness contained by the vacuum of darkness along the night banks of the river. Its stark pinpoints of light find echoes in sounds that activate the metal railings within the projection. Participants view its lights from afar, and are drawn in by its quiet murmuring, walking within the work to touch and feel its vibrations.
